iOS finally set for over-the-air updates

Whilst the world has gone Smart Phone crazy, Apple have still been left behind with certain features. The main one being over-the-air updates which Google based phones already incorporate.

Google phone users can already update their firmware on the move, anywhere they wish while iPhone users still need to download a famous bit of Apple software, known as iTunes and update through that which can sometimes be tedious and time consuming to say the least.

iOS 5 apparantly is set to change that with over-the-air updates ready to kick in but so far the only good news of this is for is Verizon customers whilst other networks including ones used in other countries are still left in the dark.

iOS updates are generally well over 500Mb in size and we know for a fact that the likes of the UK based networks won’t be keen on having consumers download this amount everytime an update is due out.

Hopefully is this does come to light, users will have a seperate part of their tarrif for this function so that huge data bills aren’t clocked up, or so that Wi-Fi is another added aspect to the mix.
