iPhone software jailbroken and unlocked

The guys from the iPhone dev team have released the eagerly anticipated ultrasn0w software which gives the ability for users of the new iPhone 3.0 software to unlock their devices for use with other networks.

I can confirm that the iPhone 3.0 software can be jailbroken using redsn0w as I’ve personally done this on my iPhone 3G running the latest Apple software.

Users of the new 3.0 software were given many dates for the release of ultrasn0w so that they could use their iPhone with other network providers. After many days of waiting since the release of 3.0 they were given ultrasn0w.

The ultrasn0w software can also unlock iPhone’s with a 2.30.03 baseband. This was previously un-lockable.

The simple steps to unlocking your iPhone 3G are:

  • Upgrade your iPhone to the latest iPhone 3.0 software (Get it here).
  • Jailbreak your iPhone 3G using redsn0w (Get it here).
  • Run Cydia or Icy.
  • Add repository repo666.ultrasn0w.com to Cydia or Icy.
  • Search for ultrasn0w in Cydia or Icy and proceed to install it.
  • Reboot your iPhone 3G
