Jensen Huang Says $660 Billion AI Investment Is Not a Waste
Jensen Huang, CEO of NVIDIA, believes that the $660 billion invested by big tech companies in artificial intelligence is sustainable. According to him, AI has reached a real turning point and this level of spending should not be seen as wasteful.
The debate around massive AI investments continues to grow, but Huang does not seem concerned. Faced with the huge amounts being spent by major technology companies to build AI infrastructure, he describes the current phase as a historic opportunity rather than an excessive or irrational expense.
In recent months, companies such as Amazon, Google, Meta, and Microsoft have sharply increased their capital spending, going beyond $100 billion per year. Much of this money is being used for data centers, advanced chips, and AI-focused infrastructure, a trend that has raised concerns among investors and analysts.
Huang’s View On Artificial Intelligence
According to Huang, today’s situation is very different from the past. Artificial intelligence has moved beyond the experimental stage and has reached a clear inflection point. It is no longer just a tech curiosity or a simple chatbot, but a real and profitable tool.
He points to companies like OpenAI and Anthropic, which are already generating meaningful revenue. This shows that AI models can be economically sustainable. Huang argues that this is the biggest software opportunity in history. In the past, software was something humans used; today, software can use tools itself, make decisions, and create value.
However, not everyone agrees with Huang’s position. Some critics compare the current investment rush to the dot-com bubble, particularly the “dark fiber” period, when huge infrastructures were built long before real demand existed.
Huang acknowledges the risk but stresses that today’s demand for computing power and AI solutions is real, growing, and driven by the market. In the end, the success of these investments will depend on AI’s ability to reach a wide audience and generate value at scale.
