A Closer LookThe first thing you will notice about the DT ultimate is that it’s quite chunky in comparision with other drives on the market but is somewhat shorter in length, but as we know these types of drives do come in all shapes and sizes in this day and age.

It has a white and grey colour scheme and includes a silver panel with the model name and capacity on.

The top and bottom of the flash drive have a metal casing to give extra styling and possibly extra protection against the unit being damaged.

The back includes the Kingston branding engraved into the plastic surface; a subtle yet effective piece of design work.

The end has the USB 3.0 branding in a reflective nail-polish type colouring and has the ability to been tied to a cord or lanyard. This way the unit is less likely to get lost.

The other end has a protective cap for when it’s not in use.

The cap can also be snapped onto the opposite end (with the USB 3.0 branding) so that it’s not lost when the drive is in use whereas other drives may have you leaving the cap in a safe place, only to find it missing later on.

As this is a USB 3.0 based drive, it features the blue connector that informs us that it definitely uses that interface. It is also handy for matching up with the blue USB 3.0 ports on the rear of your motherboard. It’s also worth noting that this drive is able to be used in USB 1.1/2.0 ports, but will run at those respective speeds and not fully utilising the flash drive.

Most flash drives like this will have a LED of some sort, and the Data Traveller doesn’t disappoint. The drive has a blue LED within its casing that makes part of the drive glow to show the activity.
