Kingston Unveils Dual-Port Portable SSD With Speeds Over 1 GB/s

Kingston has launched a new high-performance USB drive, classified as a portable SSD by the company, capable of achieving more than 1 GB/s read speeds. Specifically, this Kingston Dual Portable SSD promises up to 1,050 MB/s for reads, and 950 MB/s for sequential writes.

Dual USB Ports for Maximum Compatibility

The “Dual” in its name comes from its two USB ports: on one end, under a cap, there is a USB-A 3.1 port; on the other end, beneath another cap, there is a USB-C 3.1 port. This lets the Kingston Dual Portable SSD work across a wide range of devices — smartphones, PCs, tablets, TVs, NAS units and generally any device that supports USB storage.

It will be available in three capacities: 512 GB, 1 TB and up to 2 TB. All three models share the same dimensions — 71.85 mm × 21.1 mm × 8.6 mm — and a weight of just 13 g thanks to a metal + plastic build. Operating temperature ranges from 0 °C to 60 °C; storage temperature from -20 °C to 85 °C.
