Kobalt Computers go bust!

For those of you in the UK, you may be aware of Kobalt Computers, who offered high-priced desktop machines and laptops for the mass consumer market. They were considered one of the smaller operations but held on to a niche high-end market that most people could only wish to afford systems made by them.

Kobalt were based in Surrey and had been around for a few years, but as they can’t meet their ongoing financial obligations, they are forced to cease trading.

Their website doesn’t make it clear on the exact reasons as to why they have closed but we can only assume that the recession is still hitting people hard and fast.

If you are after an extreme gaming rig, you can always head over to international market retailer Scan.co.uk where you can find a deal precise to your needs.

My order was in progress with Kobalt when this recent financial issue arose, currently i have no way of contacting them to chase the payment i made back in august. If anyone has any info on how to contact them it would be much appreciated

I'm in exactly the same situation. The company is run by crooks, they kept delaying my order, eventually I asked for a refund and they were kind to assure me it will be processed within a month. Needless to say in that month they closed down and took my money with them, no longer responding to my calls or emails.
Anyways if you bought with a Visa debit or credit, you might be able to request a dispute and get a chargeback. I am currently in the process and they have just requested that I acquire a letter from the Local Trading Standards saying the company is out of business. Apparently it's not enough to just give them their website and for them to see for themselves. Anyways it's an annoying process but I am hoping it will eventually be resolved. Also don't take the word of the first bank rep that tells you this isn't possible. Visa definately protects its customers and other companies might have similar protection schemes.
