Kolink Continuum 1200W Platinum Power Supply Review

Final Thoughts

Pricing

The Kolink Continuum 1200W 80 Plus Platinum Modular Power Supply is available from Overclockers UK for a very reasonable £189.95. That’s a lot of money, but when you look at be quiet! EVGA, Corsair, Super Flow and Silverstone, Kolink is cheaper than all of them by £40-£80, making it excellent value for money.

Conclusion

I must admit that I was a little apprehensive of this power supply, as generally any PSU that’s marketed as affordable is usually a nice way of saying it’s crap but it’s all you can afford at the time. That’s really not the case here though, this is still an expensive unit for most people, but it’s quite a lot cheaper than other 1200W 80 Plus Platinum units, which are typically £250, not £180. That’s cash you could spend on other hardware, and while I’m sure some will like to pay up for the bigger and more known brand names, we’re pretty impressed with the performance that Kolink has to offer here.

If I could change a couple of things on this unit, it would be to remove the “value” sticker on the side, it makes it look cheaper than it needs to. I’d also like to see the ripple on the 12V rail tightened up and the voltages being just a little more accurate on that 12V rail too. That being said, they’re still good figures, but if I had to be picky and pick where to improve, that would be it.

The build quality is solid inside and out. Sure the unit isn’t the best looking, it doesn’t have the swagger of a be quiet or Corsair unit, but again I think that’s reflected in the price. If you want something to get the job done reliably, then Kolink have your back. If you’re building a custom modded gaming rig that has to look picture perfect, there are brands out there which offer you the looks, albeit at a higher price tag.

Pros

  • Powerful 1200W output
  • Huge range of cables
  • Fully modular
  • Very quiet 135mm fan
  • Respectable performance
  • 80 Plus Platinum efficiency
  • Fiercely competitive price

Cons

  • Average aesthetics

Neutral

  • 12v voltage regulation and ripple could be improved but is still within a good margin

“Extreme power, fantastic efficiency, with a quiet fan, the Kolink Continuum has a lot to offer for those building a high-end workstation or gaming system, and it does it all at a very competitive price and with a 5-year warranty. Highly recommended!”
