It has been nearly 10 years since Silent Hill last saw a release from its gaming franchise. Well, that’s presuming that you don’t include the Pachinko machine Konami launched a couple of years ago (which I most certainly don’t!). – While there had been rumours earlier this year that something was in the works though, to date, very little has been confirmed about it.
Following an official Twitter post, however, Konami has just dropped a huge hint that something new is on the way from Silent Hill, and more so, it’ll be confirmed before the end of this week!
The event is set to take place on the 19th of October at 10 PM (UK time), and Konami certainly isn’t being coy about what the subject of it will be. Silent Hill is undoubtedly on the schedule, but this has, of course, led to more than a little speculation as to exactly what we might be getting.
While a remake of the first or second game is still possible, news on that front has died down quite a lot since last Spring with ‘Blooper’, despite signing a ‘blanket’ IP agreement with Konami, apparently not yet working on anything (yet) in this specific regard.
Overall, I get the distinct feeling that a brand-new title from the franchise is set to be announced. And just in case you needed some further confirmation of this, you’ll note in the image below that Konami is currently in the process of replacing the banner images on all of its social media accounts. – Yes Silent Hill fans, we’re pretty confident that this is going to be some big news. And no, not another pachinko machine… Probably.
Konami has said in their Twitter post that a ‘transmission’ will be made to showcase whatever it is they’re planning on revealing. They haven’t, however, said exactly how this will be made. – We presume that it’ll be a trailer of some description, but if you want to keep up with the latest news as it happens, we recommend you check out their Twitter feed via the link here!
