At the time of this review, the LaCie Rugged RAID Pro 4TB drive can be yours for £377.04 or $329.94 via Amazon.
LaCie’s Rugged RAID Pro is an amazing drive, that is something that is clear from our benchmarks. You get 4TB of storage which lands at the top 2 in most charts. That on its own is impressive. On top of that, you get the security of 3-years warranty and 3-years data recovery inclusive.
At the base, the Rugged RAID Pro is 2 drives which you can configure as RAID 0 or RAID 1. That’s rare in the portable sector and even more rare when it comes to rugged drives. The hardware RAID which is built into the drive does a great job and it has no negative impact on the performance.
LaCie didn’t stop there, they also added an SD card reader to the drive. With it, you don’t need to carry an extra reader with you just to offload your card to your drives. A nice and also rare feature.
The drive features the latest Type-C USB connector, but it’s also compatible with older Type-A systems. There’s a cable for both, leaving no-one in the dark.
You get all that and a great physical protection which includes IP54 rating, 1.2m drop resistance, and a 1-ton crush resistance. That’s a win!
“LaCie shows that a portable drive doesn’t need to be neither boring nor traditional. The Rugged RAID Pro has a large capacity, RAID flexibility, a great protection, and built-in card reader.”
