Mafia: The Lost City of Heaven was a revolutionary and criminally underrated title which holds up pretty well years after the initial release. The game’s stunning soundtrack, extraordinary characters and time period made it one of my favourite games and I’ve revisited the enjoyable story on many occasions. Additionally, the sequel was just as impressive and held my attention despite the ending being rather lacklustre. Of course, Mafia 3’s release isn’t too far away and expectations are high given the positive nature of the previous two games. Judging from the footage so far, Mafia 3 appears to have received a mixed response with some users relaying concerns about the driving physics. To be fair, 2K’s decision to only allow pre-release content to be published by a select number of YouTubers didn’t help matters and raised suspicions.
Thankfully, the studio has begun to unveil a number of videos prior to the launch which shows actual gameplay instead of flashy, pre-rendered trailers usually seen from most publishers. In the latest gameplay video, we can see the stunning environment, stealth mechanics and gunplay. While it’s difficult to forge a picture if the game is worth playing, some of my fears are beginning to subside.
Are you looking forward to Mafia 3?
