The wait is finally over for those of you who are planning to purchase AMD’s super-compact performance-segment graphics card – the AMD R9 Nano. The launch date for this small yet powerful card is expected to be August 27 2015, which means that market availability and official reviews should start coming in about a week after that. What’s interesting about the R9 Nano is that it will be marketed as a halo product, which basically means that it will most likely only be available in its reference design.
According to AMD, this card is expected to outperform the Radeon R9 290X while using considerably less power, as it boasts 90% higher performance-per-watt. When compared to the Radeon R9 Fury X, the R9 Nano will feature 50% higher performance-per-watt, which is a huge leap in power efficiency. We’ll find out soon enough if these claims are valid and we’ll definitely keep you posted. Given its small size, efficiency and power, I think that this particular card will be quite the success as long as it will also come with a reasonable price tag.
