The A8-3850 has been noted for its easy overclocking from stock 2.9GHz to around 3.7-3.8GHz on light water cooling. However, a team of Japanese overclockers at the Akihabara store managed to reach close to 5GHz using liquid nitrogen cooling:
The A8-3850 reached 4.9GHz formed of 169.2 X 29 with a very high voltage of 1.792v, it also managed to pass a 32m Super Pi test at 4.75GHz taking 14 minutes and 17.5 seconds. The A6-3650 was also given a run on the liquid nitrogen and it managed an impressive 4.186GHz at 161 X 26.
The poor A8-3850 was a frozen mess by the time the overclockers had finished with it as the picture above shows. These are impressive clocks for such budget chips and no doubt show the versatility of these chips for overclocking in gaming systems, although those clocks are unrealistic for day to day use you can easily push a comfortable 3.7GHz on the A8 and 3.4GHz on the A6 without damaging your chip.
