Lords of the Fallen II Teased with Brutal Boss Battles and More!

CI Games has just dropped a gameplay reveal for the highly anticipated sequel, Lords of the Fallen II, which promises to be a bolder, bloodier, and more brutal soulslike action-RPG.

Set 1,000 years after the fall of the dark god Adyr, the sequel puts you in the boots of the Lampbearer, facing off against the dead realm of Umbral.

Lords of the Fallen II: Bolder, Braver, Bloodier

The game features a fast and fluid combat system enhanced by a new dismemberment feature and all-new executions for visceral finishes. Players will face a significantly greater wealth of enemy types and truly jaw-dropping boss battles, which can be tackled in solo play or via the best-in-class shared progression co-op and optional PvP multiplayer.

The first gameplay reveal showed off three terrifying bosses:

  • Heartroot Warden: A metal-encased warrior with a chain-wrapped greatsword.
  • Koydreth: A bewinged boss who strikes from a rune-etched mirror.
  • Lingao the Souring Storm: A colossal dragon harnessing the power of wind and lightning.

Game Director, James Lowe, confirmed the game was “Designed and developed in accordance with our players-first philosophy,” focusing on “faster and more brutal combat, the significantly greater enemy variety, and the more spectacular boss battle showdowns.”

Lords of the Fallen (2023) Version 2.5 Update

To keep fans busy while they wait for the sequel, CI Games has released the final major update for the original Lords of the Fallen (2023). Version 2.5 introduces extensive reworks to enemy and boss behaviour in both Legacy and the all-new Veteran Mode, dramatically increasing the soulslike challenge.

Key changes include:

  • Bosses Reborn: Bosses and mini-bosses now feature faster, tighter, and more aggressive combat behaviour with refined combos and greater moveset variation (e.g., Pieta and Congregator of Flesh).
  • Veteran Mode: This ultimate test of skill further empowers many bosses with faster transitions and new attack patterns. Conquering it rewards the Veteran of the Veil breastplate.
  • Boss Weapons Reforged: Several boss weapons now feature new signature attack animations.

CEO Marek Tyminski noted that the update is exactly what the community had been asking for, calling it “the ultimate representation of our vision for Lords of the Fallen.”
