Mac Sales Grow Twice as Fast as the PC Market, But Lenovo Remains the Clear Leader
Apple is experiencing significant growth in the laptop market. During the third quarter of this year, Mac sales grew twice as fast as the overall PC market. However, the company is still far from leading this sector in both units shipped and annual growth rate.
Even though Apple outperformed the market average growth of 8.1%, it ranked second in growth terms. A new report from Counterpoint Research reveals that Lenovo led the growth with a 17.4% increase in shipments during Q3 2025, while Apple recorded a 14.9% rise.
Top 5 PC Manufacturers Worldwide
Lenovo not only grew the fastest but also remains the world’s largest PC manufacturer by volume. In second place is HP, which achieved 10% growth. Meanwhile, Dell was the only major brand in the Top 5 to see a slight decline in shipments, dropping 0.9%, yet still held third place.
In this ranking, Apple holds the fourth position in total units shipped. Closing the list of the five largest manufacturers is ASUS, which closely follows Apple with a solid 14% shipment growth.
What’s Driving the Market Growth?
The report attributes the overall PC market growth to two main factors. First, the approaching end of Windows 10 support has encouraged users and businesses to upgrade their systems. Second, inventory adjustments linked to tariff changes in the United States have influenced shipment patterns.
Looking ahead, the study highlights that the next big driver of the PC market will be the upcoming boom of “AI PCs” — personal computers equipped with advanced artificial intelligence capabilities.
