Mad Catz Tritton Kunai Mobile Headset Review

A Closer Look

The Kunai comes hard-wired with a high quality cable in matching blue, there is an in-line controller close to the left ear cup and a standard 4-pole 3.5mm jack on the other end. As you can see, the headset comes finished in a stunning blue.

The in-line controller is a pretty humble thing, it is slim, round and features just three simple push buttons to control it. There is also a small pin-home microphone built into the base of the controller, most likely the reason why the controller is so close to the ear piece.

The overall finish and style of the headset is flawless, the dark blacks offer up a nice contrast to the electric blue surfaces. All the panels have a soft texture to them that is somewhere between plastic and rubber.

Ear ear cup features a 90 degree swivel mount that will ensure a better fit as well as making the headset more comfortable to wear around your neck between usage.

The ear cups feature a very thick layer of padding, however it is incredibly soft and compresses well around your ears, providing a very snug and gentle fit.

Beside the swivel and the soft padding, each ear cup also pivots a little, which should again help improve overall fit.

A durable sliding mechanism on each side allows for length adjustments.

And a comfortable layer of padding on the headband helps prevent the Kunai from slipping, but also keeps it comfortable across the top of your head.

The Tritton logo is across the top of the headband, with smaller Kunai logos on the side.

And the Tritton “T” logo is on each of the ear cups.

The back plates on the ear cups are removable thanks to a small set of strong magnets that hold them in place. Then you can clip in the bright orange or bright red panels that came bundled. I’m not certain the colours match that well, but it does look rather funky non the less and I’m sure some people will love that you can customise them.
