Following the release of the Nokia Lumia 2520 in the US, users are starting to complain about a sleep bug issue that prevents the tablet from “waking up”. Things are not looking good for Nokia’s tablet as major bugs are starting to surface a little over a week after its official launch date.

Nokia’s Windows RT tablet is not the first device with issues released on the market. It seems that newer tech released nowadays always has at least a frustrating issue such as the sleep bug mentioned. Users who experience the issue in most cases have to hard reset the tablet in order to regain functionality once more.

“So I bought the tablet day one from Verizon store and absolutely love it ! My tablet has frozen up quiet a few times and more than often when it goes to sleep the power button will not turn the tablet back on ! Something is wrong because the Windows Home button vibrates when I press it . I have to resort to long pressing the home and power button for a hard reset . Very frustrating to say the least yet I am thankful that Windows boots up very rapidly but I hate having to log back in. I have only had it for 4 days now and I count even count how many times this has happen …. as if it part of the tablets functioning . Please tell me if there is a fix!”

Both AT&T and Verizon variants are affected by this issue. A user who posted on Nokia’s Blog suggests that it has something to do with the graphics driver, bluetooth or Wi-Fi controller regaining functionality when attempting to wake up from sleep.

“From my observations, the problem seems to have something to do with the duration of sleep (always comes back on after short sleeps) and/or leaving the current wireless network whilst in sleep, and/or Bluetooth.

Administrative events in the event logs only show the forced shutdown as a critical error. However, the Windows system event log shows Kernel-PnP 219 warnings related to being unable to load driver WUDFRD for ACPI and BTHLED devices.”

The Lumia 2520 is expected to be released in Europe later this month. Hopefully, Nokia will isolate and fix the bug by then.
