Many Teams Still Struggle to Obtain Nintendo Switch 2 Development Kits
According to a report from the website Akaden, many development teams are still having difficulty receiving Nintendo Switch 2 development kits. This is slowing down support for the new console, regardless of the developers’ willingness to work on it.
The site spoke with several teams during past events, although they were not identified in the article. From these conversations, it emerged that many studios still have not gained access to the specific devkits for Nintendo Switch 2. This issue had already been mentioned in recent months, especially before the console’s launch. Now that the system is available on the market, the situation was expected to improve.
A Distribution Process Still Facing Delays
Apparently, the problem has not yet been fully resolved. Several sources report that the distribution of development kits remains slow, even though the situation is gradually progressing.
This slow rollout is affecting the release of games specifically optimized for Nintendo Switch 2. As a result, support for the console is developing more slowly, but this does not seem to be the developers’ fault.
In general, there is strong interest in supporting the console. However, difficulties remain in the process of assigning development kits, which usually takes place through Nintendo’s dedicated developer portal.
The situation appears very different from what happened with the original Nintendo Switch. With Switch 1, the process was described as very simple, and the time between requesting and receiving a development kit was relatively short.
With Nintendo Switch 2, however, waiting times seem to have increased significantly, at least according to several testimonies.
