Marathon Missing from State of Play, Bungie Still Not Ready to Show
PlayStation announced a new State of Play, scheduled for September 24. During the event, third-party titles and Sony’s in-house productions will be presented, including the already confirmed Saros.
According to Forbes, there will be no sign of Marathon. Sources suggest that fans should not expect a release date, a beta announcement, or anything new. Bungie, it seems, is still not ready to bring the game back into the spotlight.
Possible Updates May Come in November
Forbes reports that Bungie will continue its radio silence that began with the game’s delay. Originally planned for September 23 (today), the launch has been postponed to an unknown date.
The delay followed accusations of plagiarism regarding certain assets and generally negative feedback from the community.
Sources indicate that any new updates may arrive in November, in line with Bungie’s latest statements promising fresh news and a new launch window during the fall.
Forbes added that, behind the scenes, the game is going through several closed Alpha phases, this time under NDA. This avoids the media chaos caused by the previous Alpha, where participants were allowed to share details even though the build was very incomplete, essentially creating bad publicity for the game.
It is still unclear what has happened with the plagiarized assets found in Marathon, or what agreement, if any, has been reached with the artist involved.
