Marvel’s Spider-Man Xbox Release Considered “Unlikely,” Says Insomniac
In today’s gaming landscape, nothing can be taken for granted when it comes to exclusives. That is why discussions continue about whether Marvel’s Spider-Man could ever arrive on Xbox. Insomniac Games has responded to the question, and while the answer was predictable, it has still sparked debate.
As a major exclusive developed by one of PlayStation Studios’ most important internal teams, it seems unlikely that Marvel’s Spider-Man would move to another platform. Insomniac confirmed this by stating it is “not likely” that the game will come to Xbox. However, the discussion continues because of the character’s popularity and Sony’s recent openness to cross-platform releases, such as bringing Helldivers 2 to Xbox Series X|S.
It is also worth noting that releasing a title like this on a competing console would probably not hurt PlayStation significantly, considering its strong position in the console market. Still, Sony appears unwilling to give up certain traditional strategies that have helped it maintain its leadership.
Insomniac’s Brief Response Fuels Discussion
The online debate started from a post that was later deleted, but Insomniac’s short reply is still visible. The studio responded simply with “not likely,” shutting down hopes of a possible Xbox release.
However, some users on X and other social platforms pointed out that Insomniac had once given a similar response regarding a PC version of the game. At the time, the team said Marvel’s Spider-Man would remain a PS4 exclusive and would never come to PC or Xbox. Yet the game did eventually release on PC, along with its sequels Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales and Marvel’s Spider-Man 2.
Even though the situation seems clear for now, the discussion has continued online. Some players are looking ahead to the next Xbox console. According to rumors, the upcoming system may be based on the Magnus chip and bring PC and Xbox closer together, making them work more like a single platform.
If that happens, it could theoretically allow players to run PlayStation titles that are available on PC — including the Marvel’s Spider-Man games — on the next Xbox hardware.
