Marvo GT-64 Wireless Gaming Controller Review

A Closer Look & Performance

First things first, this is clearly not an official controller, and it does have a more budget and 3rd party look to it. I certainly don’t mind that though, as it has certainly been reflected in the price. However, it doesn’t look bad, it just looks a bit old-school if anything due to the types of plastic used, but honestly, it feels nice in my hand, and it has a good weight to it too.

Everything you would expect is here too, such as that large touchpad at the top, which feels like a normal PS4 touch surface, and it still has the clickable surface too. The Marvo logo looks quite cool on there too.

The central button says P4, I’m assuming that means PlayStation 4, not Player 4, but they could have just left that blank or put the Marvo scorpion on there instead in my opinion. There’s a small 1W speaker built into the controller too, and again, that performs as it should and sounds nice and clear on supporting games, so PlayStation 4 only really.

I love that they didn’t use Cross, Square, Triangle and Circle. Instead, they’ve tried to go for some extra dimensions instead, giving us a cube, pyramid and cylinder… not sure what happened to the X, but hey, we all know what it’s supposed to be.

The buttons feel nice and responsive, they feel and perform like standard rubber buttons. There’s nothing fancy going on here, they just work nicely.

Tucked into the bottom, there are ports for your headphones, which again seems to work just fine. The PS4 hooked up my headphones just fine for in-game chat, and it was as simple as that really.

Around the back, it’s looking much more like an official PlayStation controller. The lightbar is there, there’s a USB charging port, and the triggers look right too.

The included cable is required to use the controller on PC, or to pair it with a PlayStation.

You can even customise the colour of the LED.

The controller has a pretty standard layout. However, it does tweak the overall ergonomics a little, as they’re not just stamping out from the PlayStation mould, but rather their own ergonomic design. It feels good to grip though, and the thumbsticks are concave with a grip edge, making them fantastically easy to control. However, dome stick lovers may not like the feel of them.

They have a nice smooth and even pull on them with a good return rate. Perhaps feeling more like an Xbox One stick than a PlayStation stick, but really, I’m OK with that as the overall weight and tension of it feel familiar to what I usually use.

That grip is pretty robust too, it shouldn’t wear out for many thousands of hours of usage.

The overall ergonomics are decent though, with some nice deep curves on the side promoting a good wrist position.

The underside has size sections which are carved out, two on the left and right stems, and two closer to the middle, allowing you a more comfortable grip.

They’re a good size, and have soft edges, so they’re very comfortable to hold.

While it’ll fit smaller hands well enough, it’s still very comfortable with my particularly long fingers and wide hands.

The triggers feel right and tight, with no pre-travel or wobble.

They lock back tightly, and overall, feel nice and responsive with a smooth gradient on the sensor.

The only thing that lets it down is the D-PAD. It’s very hard to make full circles with it as it pushed down a little and sort of dampens its self. Playing ESO was just, as I only use the D-PAD for emotes, or hold a direction to select a weapon from time to time, for this sort of occasional use, it’s faultless.

However, I tried it on Street Fighter 2 , Dead or Alive and Mortal Kombat 3, and it just couldn’t deliver.

However, switching back to analogue, the trigger and the sticks are bang on.
