According to a report from ZDNet Korea (via BGR), Samsung is reportedly in the process of launching a “killer” handset in February, and based on previous reports, all points out to one smartphone, the Galaxy S5.

Of course, not even ZDNet Korea names the Galaxy S5 specifically by name when talking about the handset featuring the metal chassis. But it does describe the phone’s specifications, and they most likely match a high-end handset, such as the upcoming Galaxy S5. It is said that the smartphone will feature a quad HD display boasting a resolution of 2560 x 1440 and an integrated iris scanner, offering enhanced security to users. Given that the previously mentioned features are new to Samsung, it does strongly support the theory of implementing them in a device such as the Samsung Galaxy S5.

Other features mentioned consist of a new 64-bit Octa-Core Exynos processor or a Quad-Core Snapdraggon processor (depending on the model), a 16-megapixels camera with new low-light photo quality technology, 3GB of Ram and a 4,000 mAh battery, all powering the Android 4.4 KitKat OS.

The metal feature will be seen, as rumored, only on one version of the upcoming Galaxy S5. Given the above mentioned specs, it would probably not be the one featuring the Quad-Core Snapdragon since Qualcomm announced that the first 64-bit processors will be more low-end oriented. It would only be logical to put a plastic body on a lower-end spec handset. But it could however be the other way round, since at this point we can only speculate.

Based on numerous reports, the Galaxy S5 could launch as early as next month. But taking ZDNet’s report into account, the handset’s launch date would most likely be somewhere in March, one month ahead of the Galaxy S4’s one-year anniversary.
