Metal Gear Solid 4 PC requirements Revealed – They’re Pretty Modest Too!
It has been a long time coming, but the legendary Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots is finally breaking free from its PlayStation 3 shackles. As part of the upcoming Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol. 2, PC players are finally getting a look at what kind of hardware they’ll need to step into the shoes of Old Snake once again.
While the game originally pushed the Cell Processor to its absolute limits back in 2008, the modern PC requirements are surprisingly modest, though they do come with a few specific caveats regarding your operating system and storage.
Metal Gear Solid 4 PC Requirements
The specs revealed for the Master Collection Vol. 2 suggest that while you won’t need a monster rig to run it, Konami is definitely prioritising modern standards. Interestingly, the “Recommended” GPU is actually an older model than the “Minimum” requirement, suggesting the game is more reliant on CPU instructions and modern API support than raw graphical horsepower.
Minimum Specifications

- Processor: Intel Core i5-9600K
- Memory: 16 GB RAM
- Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1650

- Storage: 34 GB available space (SSD Recommended)
Recommended Specifications

What We Think
It’s fantastic to see MGS4 finally becoming accessible on modern hardware without the need for complex emulation. The most striking takeaway here is the requirement for Windows 11. It seems Konami is moving away from supporting older versions of Windows entirely for this collection. Additionally, the jump to a mandatory 16GB of RAM and the “SSD Required” tag for recommended settings show that even for a classic title, modern file-streaming speeds are essential for a smooth experience. Metal Gear Solid 4 was famously locked to the PS3 for over a decade due to how deeply integrated the game was with that console’s unique architecture. Its inclusion in Master Collection Vol. 2 is the headline act for many fans, likely alongside Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker and Metal Gear Solid 5.
Where to Buy
The Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol. 2 will be available on Steam for PC users. Keep an eye on the official Konami website and major digital retailers for pre-order dates and the final launch schedule.
