If the announcement of Fox Hunt, the multiplayer mode of Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater, was an unexpected and welcome surprise, the news arriving in recent days is equally surprising—but not in a positive way.
After confirming that Fox Hunt will be available only after the launch of the remake, at a date yet to be determined, Konami has now announced on social media that the mode will not support crossplay between PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. In other words, it will not be possible to play with or against users who are on a different platform.
Why No Crossplay?
Crossplay has become almost a standard feature in multiplayer games in recent years. It benefits everyone: players can enjoy matches with friends who own different devices and benefit from shorter matchmaking times, while developers can grow and maintain an active community for longer periods.
Despite these advantages, there are still games that, for technical or strategic reasons, choose not to include this feature. Recent examples include Elden Ring: Nightreign and Rematch, with the latter expected to receive crossplay support in a future update. Unfortunately, the remake of Naked Snake’s adventures in the Soviet jungle will now join this list.
Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater will be available starting August 28, on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam.
