Metroid Prime 4 Rated for Switch 2, Hinting at a Possible Release Date Announcement
Metroid Prime 4, one of the most highly anticipated games in Nintendo’s lineup for both the Switch and the upcoming Switch 2, has just been rated by South Korea’s game rating board.
This rating suggests that the game’s release date could be announced very soon. The game has received a 12+ age rating for “mild violence,” which is a common step near the end of a game’s development process.
Although Nintendo has only shared a broad 2025 release window, this new classification has raised expectations for an imminent update. Several media outlets are reporting that Nintendo is preparing a new Nintendo Direct, where the official release date of Metroid Prime 4 could finally be revealed.
A New Nintendo Direct Might Be Coming Soon
Rumors about an upcoming Nintendo Direct have been circulating for several weeks. Until recently, these were mostly shared by a few insiders. Now, however, VGC has confirmed that its sources also believe a Nintendo Direct is coming soon, and that it will include the release date for Metroid Prime 4. In fact, there are reports suggesting the event could take place later this July, which means it might be held as early as next week.
The official name of the game is Metroid Prime 4: Beyond, and it’s being developed by Retro Studios and published by Nintendo for the Switch 2. This fourth entry in the 3D adventures of Samus Aran will offer an improved experience on the new console.
It features 4K graphics, up to 120 frames per second, and updated controls for the new Joy-Con 2. Players will also be able to use the mouse mode, adding more flexibility to the gameplay.
