Microsoft corporation has decided to abandon the takeover of the online video site www.hulu.com , this now means that the leading bidder is expected to be Yahoo with a bid of around $2 billion. Microsoft reportedly told Hulu executives they would not be participating in the second round of bidding.
Early reports have suggested Hulu are also in contact with Google, AT&T in addition to Microsoft and Yahoo. Microsoft’s Xbox film rental service supports Hulu videos so it is a shock that they would pull out of the deal so early on.
Yahoo could reportedly spend up to $20 billion in the whole takeover process of Hulu as it snaps up TV rights for online playback from companies like Disney, News Corp. and NBC universal. Microsoft and Hulu both declined to comment on this story.
