Microsoft Edge Finally Supports Adblock and Adblock Plus

Edge is not exactly a new browser anymore, and it’s true that it has received quite a few improvements from Microsoft since its initial launch. Snappy and minimalistic, Edge is definitely an improvement when compared to the notoriously slow Internet Explorer, but its lack of extension support has discouraged many users from making it their default choice. Fortunately, Microsoft started to test out a new Edge version on Windows 10 in March, a version that actually supported extensions. Obviously, Microsoft needs to take things slow in order to make sure that these extensions will function properly, but it’s definitely a step in the right direction to enable Adblock and Adblock Plus for now.

It looks like the Edge versions of these famous ad blockers offer a similar feature list when compared to their Firefox and Chrome counterparts, and they also allow users to whitelist certain websites if they want to. At the time of writing, only those who enrolled in the preview program for Edge are able to install these ad blockers, but it’s likely that the feature will become available to regular users soon.
