Microsoft is Preparing “Something Big” for Windows 11 This Week

Windows 11

Microsoft has raised expectations with a mysterious post on its official Windows X account. The company announced that it will reveal “something big” this Thursday, October 16. The teaser hints at a major change in how we interact with our computers. The message reads: “Your hands are about to get some PTO. Time to rest those fingers…something big is coming Thursday.”

A New Way to Interact with Your PC

This mysterious announcement comes right after the news that Copilot will soon link directly to the most relevant Windows settings based on your needs. Although there are no further details yet, everything points to a focus on voice control as a new primary input method.

As reported by Windows Central, Pavan Davuluri, the current head of Windows, said that soon “you’ll be able to speak to your computer.” He added that the system will be able to understand your intent semantically, joining the keyboard, mouse, and touchscreen as standard input options.

The Future of Windows 11 with Built-in AI

This idea has been echoed by other Microsoft executives, such as David Weston, who described a future where “the computer will be able to see what we see, hear what we hear” to perform more complex tasks. While it’s unlikely that Microsoft will announce a brand-new Windows 12, it is expected to reveal its vision for the evolution of Windows 11.

The upcoming features are likely related to AI-powered and natural language capabilities integrated directly into Windows. Hopefully, Microsoft will provide a live demonstration of the technology rather than just polished concept videos that don’t reflect real performance.

It remains to be seen how users will respond to this new way of interacting with their PCs. This is not the first time Microsoft has tried to promote an alternative input method. The most notable attempt was with Windows 8 and its focus on touch interfaces — a change that only partially succeeded. If Microsoft wants us to move away from the keyboard and mouse, it must deliver something truly impressive.
