Microsoft Is Reportedly Helping Bethesda Integrate Unreal Engine Elements into the Creation Engine
Journalist Jez Corden recently commented on rumors about a possible technical update for Starfield, often referred to as Starfield 2.0. According to these reports, Microsoft is helping Bethesda upgrade its Creation Engine by integrating elements inspired by Unreal Engine 5.
Collaboration Between Teams
Internal sources told Corden that Bethesda is using certain Unreal Engine features and directly integrating them into the Creation Engine. This work aims to bring a major modernization to Bethesda’s technology.
The Microsoft Advanced Technology Group and Kate Rayner / The Coalition (the developers of the Gears series, known for their Unreal Engine expertise) are reportedly assisting Bethesda in improving the engine in every possible way.
Starfield 2.0 as a Testing Platform
Starfield 2.0 is said to serve as a testing ground for future Bethesda projects, laying the technical foundation for Fallout 5 and The Elder Scrolls VI.
Although nothing concrete is known yet about either title, these updates suggest Bethesda is preparing for a new generation of games built on stronger, more flexible technology.
Corden also emphasized that this does not mean Bethesda is completely switching to Unreal Engine. The available information should be taken cautiously, as it has not been officially confirmed.
According to him, Microsoft and Bethesda are enhancing the Creation Engine with technologies similar to those found in Unreal Engine, allowing it to make the long-awaited technological leap.
