A couple of days ago Jamie Zoch discovered that Microsoft may be on the verge of launching a new service named Sway. Possible a Content Delivery Network?
Microsoft has secretly acquired the domain name Sway.com by using the domain-buying service Brand Certified on March 3rd. The domain names Sway-CDN.com, Sway-CDN.net, Sway-INT.com and Sway-INT.net were also registered. As of August 1st, Microsoft took over the whois data and we can now see that they’re really behind it.
On June 10th Microsoft also filed a trademark for Sway as “Computer Software, Computer Application Software, Online Computer Software and Software As A Service”. All very generic terms that could mean about anything.
It is however being speculated that Sway could be a Content Delivery Network, but nothing official is known yet. One thing we do know, is that it is coming very soon. For now Sway.com only redirects to Bing.com, but that is just a matter of time.
