Microsoft to End the Sale of Consumer Windows 10 Licenses on Jan 31st!

It’s been confirmed for around a year now that Windows 10 will officially enter its end of life on October 14th 2025. – Yep, put simply, those of you still on the operating system have under two years of security patches and updates left before Microsoft finally decides to put it out to pasture!

With this in mind though, there will clearly come a point when Microsoft stops selling/distributing Windows 10 licenses. When will this happen though? Well, following a report via TomsHardware, it appears that on January 31st (so, in a little over a week), Microsoft will officially stop providing Windows 10 licenses of both the Home and Pro versions of the operating system!

Yes, put simply, the first major nail has officially been driven into Windows 10’s coffin!

Microsoft to Stop Providing Windows 10 Licenses on January 31st

Now, we should note that in the grand scheme of things, this doesn’t really represent that much to get overly worried about. – The key factor is that Microsoft is no longer going to directly provide Windows 10 licenses after January 31st meaning that the supply line is only going to diminish from this point forward. Whatever’s out there will be it!

For those of you who may still want to obtain an official copy after January 31st though… Well, let’s just say that we suspect that the internet will not fall short of third-party vendors selling the Windows 10 operating system any time soon. There are probably several million Windows 10 licenses that have yet to be activated, and of course, while you can’t purchase one direct from Microsoft anymore, you will still be able to activate it at least all the way up until its official October 2025 end-of-life.

Make no bones about it though, while you may have no interesting in making the move to Windows 11, Microsoft seems very keen now on putting Windows 10 to bed!
