Microsoft To Remove Xbox Social Clubs With April 2026 Update
Microsoft has announced that it will remove a feature that has long been standard on Xbox consoles with the update coming in April. The feature in question is Social Clubs, which will be permanently removed from the platform in the coming months.
According to Microsoft, Social Clubs will be removed from Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, and Xbox One in April 2026. The company explained that this decision is part of “ongoing platform updates to focus on social experiences players use most.”
This suggests that the feature has not been widely used by the Xbox community in recent years, leading Microsoft to rethink its social tools and reorganize them in different ways.
A Feature Used By Few Players
In fact, Social Clubs have likely not been used by a large portion of Xbox users, and many players may not even know what they are. The feature was originally introduced to strengthen the social side of gaming on Xbox.
Clubs could be found within the Friends Updates and Community sections. They were designed to bring players together, allowing them to communicate and organize around shared interests. However, it appears that this solution did not gain strong traction among users.
Microsoft has likely decided to remove the feature to free up space and resources, as it still occupied server capacity. Instead, the company is encouraging players to use the integrated Discord support on Xbox, as well as the built-in tools for creating and searching multiplayer groups.
It is important to note that the removal applies only to user-created Social Clubs. Official Clubs dedicated to specific games, which are managed by developers and publishers, will remain available on Xbox.
