Microsoft Unveils New ROG Xbox Ally and Ally X Portable Consoles with AMD Z2 Series Processors
Microsoft has officially revealed two new portable consoles, the ROG Xbox Ally and ROG Xbox Ally X, developed in collaboration with ASUS. These consoles bring Xbox and Windows games to players, offering two different versions tailored for various gamers with competitive prices and high performance.
The ASUS ROG Xbox Ally
The ROG Xbox Ally comes in a sleek white color and features the AMD Ryzen Z2 A processor, part of AMD’s latest processor range. It is also equipped with 16GB of RAM running at 6,400 MT/s and 512GB of SSD storage.
ROG Xbox Ally X
The more powerful ROG Xbox Ally X comes in black and includes the AMD Ryzen AI Z2 Extreme processor. This model has 24GB of LPDDR5x RAM running at 8,000 MT/s and a 1TB SSD. In addition, it offers enhanced features like improved trigger feedback and a USB 4 Type-C connector, alongside a second USB 3.2 port.
Both consoles share other features, such as a 7-inch IPS screen with 1080p resolution, 500 nits brightness, and a 120Hz refresh rate. The glass screen is coated with an anti-glare layer and Corning Gorilla Glass Victus. They also have microSD card readers, audio jack connectors, and Xbox-inspired grips for better comfort.
The new consoles are not just portable Xbox systems, but instead are Windows 11-based gaming devices. Microsoft has designed a new full-screen Xbox interface, allowing users to easily access their game libraries and connect to Xbox, Game Pass, Battle.net, and other top PC game stores.
Microsoft has also included Xbox Play Anywhere, which ensures over 1,000 games are available across Xbox, PC, and the new Xbox Ally. Players will even be able to keep their progress across devices. Additionally, Roblox has been optimized for the new Xbox Ally Series.
Availability and Pricing
The new ROG Xbox Ally consoles will be available in selected markets during the 2025 holiday season. Microsoft has yet to announce the official price, but more details, including information about accessories, will be shared soon.
