Microsoft has unveiled the Xbox One Elite Bundle, which it describes as “the ultimate gaming experience”. The console boasts a 1TB solid state hybrid drive (SSHD), and a gorgeous new controller which features interchangeable paddles, customisable buttons, and hair trigger locks. The reveal comes courtesy of the Major Nelson Xbox blog.
The console’s SSHD combines solid state technology with a traditional spinning hard disc, though presumably the Xbox One’s operating system will take up much of the solid state storage. Regardless, Microsoft claims that games will boot 20% faster with the Xbox One Elite’s SSHD.
The Xbox Elite Wireless Controller, which is available for pre-order for $199.99 on its own (released 27th October), is described as a “pro-level controller that adapts to your unique style of play and gives you the competitive edge”. Beyond the sales pitch fluff, though, is an impressive piece of kit, designed for players that want to customise and refine the way they interact with games. As with previous controllers, it is also compatible with Windows systems.
The Xbox One Elite Bundle will cost $499 and ships on 20th October, just in time for users to take advantage of the console’s Xbox 360 backwards compatibility the following month, as part of what Microsoft hyperbolically claims is “the greatest games lineup in Xbox history”.
