Microsoft Wants Windows 10 to be the Operating System for Gamers

Microsoft’s Head of Xbox, Phil Spencer, has spoken about the company’s desire for the forthcoming Windows 10 operating system to become the de facto OS for PC gamers.

In an interview on the official Xbox YouTube channel, Spencer said:

“For the Xbox team, this is the beginning of our discussion with fans about the work that we’re doing to bring gaming to the Windows 10 operating system. It’s really nice to finally be able to talk about this, we’ll continue the conversation throughout the year. We remain omitted to gaming on console, but we know that we have fans and gamers that also play on PC and phone.

It’s important that we build out the features that we have, learning from what we’ve done on console and helping make Windows 10 the best operating system we’ve ever created for gamers on PCs.”

Windows 10 is due for release later this year.

I’m guessing %90 of people reading this are cringing and are worried about what that means of PC gamers.
MS, I want you to do this well, but I don’t believe you’ll do it right.

microsoft can take a flying leap for all i care, im only using em due to most of my games not being linux compatible and WINE is rubbish.

And like that millions collectively hold their breath. At least Steam Machines are an alternative depending on how far South this goes.

What they could do (but I doubt):
Backwards compatibility. Most gamer PCs out power an Xbox One, why not let them buy Xbox One games through the Live store. Allowing save games or even multiplayer between them?

    • PokeMasterDebator says:

Because gaming between PC and Xbox is extremely unbalanced. PC gamers have a lot more control and maneuverability with a keyboard and mouse compared to holding a controller–which would result in more ragequits.

Easy release all the Halo’s for PC that will really help

  5. Jeff Ward says:

This is hilarious considering that the last couple of builds for the technical preview cause crashes every few minutes in games using steam servers for matchmaking.
