MMO Gaming Mouse Showdown

How Much Does it Cost?

Over the last two years, all of these mice launched with an MSRP of around £100-140, but time has been kind to them, and kinder to your wallet, as they’re often found much below that now. The ASUS ROG CHAKRAM Core is currently just £66.99 on Amazon, which is frankly, insane value for money for such a beautifully engineered product. The Corsair Scimitar RGB Elite is a little more expensive, currently costing £70 on Amazon, but again, for that many extra buttons? That’s amazing value for money. The most expensive is the SteelSeries Aerox 9 Wireless, down from its £140 MSRP to £99 on Amazon. That’s not cheap, but still exceptionally worth it. It’s only £30 more than the Corsair, while offering a range of wireless technologies, and long battery life, so you’re getting more for your money.

Additionally, the TecWare Phantom RGB Mechanical Keyboard is available for just £55.

Overview

Honestly, when I set out to do this feature, I was certain that I would find a clear winner of the three. Or at least, find which one I would rather have for myself. However, unfortunately, or fortunately, depending on how you look at it, they’re all extremely closely matched. While they all have their own unique aspects and advantages, which ones are the most beneficial to you as a gamer are really up to you to decide.

Aerox 9

The SteelSeries Aerox 9 is the most expensive. However, it’s also the lightest, it’s the only wireless one, and offers some exceptionally long battery life and lag-free performance. It has a sensor that can rival the other two mice and a 12-button design that matches that of the Corsair Scimitar. Its ergonomics and buttons cannot be customised, but its lightweight design does make it very comfortable to use.

Scimitar

The Corsair Scimitar has a 12-button side panel too, however, it’s movable, and its larger buttons are easier to index in my opinion. There are also more RGB zones than the other mice if you care about such things. The mouse is heavier though, and this cannot be adjusted like it can on the ASUS Chakram Core. However, the larger design lends well to a whole-hand grip that’s extremely relaxing to hold and beneficial to those extremely long gaming sessions.

Chakram Core

The ASUS ROG Chakram Core is beautifully engineered, one of the most interesting designs I’ve ever seen. The magnetic top panels, customisable RGB puck, removable weight tuning, and hot-swap switches are really cool. Also, the side control stick can be adjusted to be a long stick, short stick, or blanked off if you don’t want it. While this only provides four additional macro buttons, the option of having it as an analogue stick or D-Pad gives it some unique uses that go beyond simply having more buttons.

The Ultimate MMO Gaming Mouse Is?

So there you have it. Wireless and light, it’s got to be the Aerox 9, For long-term comfort and advanced controls, it’s certainly the Corsair Scimitar, and for something a little more unique and moddable, there’s nothing quite like the Chakram Core! With that in mind, I’m going to pick the *mumbles into hand* as my next gaming mouse.

All three get my editor’s choice award, they’re all fantastic!
