MMOne VR Chair

The official trailer for the commercial version of Ukraine based MM-Company’s MMOne VR chair has gone online, showing the latest development and the fully interactive virtual-reality chair in action as it plays games. Unlike most VR chair simulators which are mostly just for flat-surface racing simulators that rumble and do miniature movements mimicking the on-screen action, the MMOne VR chair can do a full-motion 360 movement as the user is strapped in place. This enables the MMOne to be used in more advanced racing games that defy gravity such as Ubisoft’s Trackmania and even in space-sim or flight-sim games where a 3-axis, 360-degree motion is expected. MM-Company has in fact partnered up already with Ubisoft to enable compatibility with more titles and have demonstrated an early prototype of the chair at Paris Games Week last year.

The final commercial version measures 2.8 x 4.1 x 3.9 meters with a 2.3 meter squared footprint so users who would want one in their game room will require some clearance. Needless to say it is a massive piece of impressive machinery weighing in at 1130kg or 2490lbs. Its mechanical arm has a minimum live load requirement of 500kg/m2 or 103lbs/ft2 and while it is strong, unfortunately for some gamers over 120kg or 265lbs, they are simply too heavy. There is space for gamers up to 190cm or 6’3″ but MM-one recommends a minimum height of 3’11” to be strapped in safely or else you would just fly out of it during more intense gaming sessions. It is compatible with several Virtual Reality solutions as well as various joysticks and wireless controllers. There is no word yet on final pricing for the commercial versions, although the early prototype last year tested by VentureBeat was worth around $50,000 in hardware.
