I very much doubt that any of you will disagree with me when I say it probably wasn’t a very good idea to name the latest Call of Duty after one of the most well-known and beloved Call of Duty Games to date. Well despite it being a bad idea, what is done is done, and so far it seems like it has done nothing but cause problems for the new Modern Warfare and the old one.
So to give you the gist of what happened, angry fans of Modern Warfare III wanted to complain about the overpriced garbage that never stops coming out year after year. But as I mentioned earlier the game has the same name as its forefather MWIII 2011. So when the masses of people went to complain, I think you can see where this is going, they were review bombing the wrong game.
Despite Modern Warfare III’s Twitter/X posting about mistakes people kept making this didn’t get enough attention to stop the angry fan base from spitting on the pride and joy of the series. So now what was an attempt to cash out of nostalgia has completely backfired in Activision’s face and left Modern Warfare III (the good one) with an absolutely abominable 2.5 on Metacritic.
As a person who hates the modern CoD games and what they represent for gaming, I couldn’t be happier to watch them burn, but it is a bit of a shame that one of the good ones has to take the hit. I also have absolutely no idea how people are this stupid though considering the first thing you see on the Metacritic page is…
