Monster Hunter Wilds Sells 8m+ Copies in 3 Days!
I have to hold my hands up and admit, I’m not a Monster Hunter fan, I dabbled with one of the games in early covid and it just didn’t click with me, so I spent my life putting 8000 hours into Elder Scrolls Online instead… whoops. Alas, I am darn tempted to try this new one, as it seems to be extremely popular right now… damn FOMO. Anyway, Monster Hunter Wilds has blown past eight million copies sold in less than a week, which is more than enough to make it the fastest selling game in Capcom’s history, and it is showing no sign of slowing down any time soon.
This week, Capcom confirmed that Monster Hunter Wilds had sold over eight million copies within the first three days, how much it’ll sell by the time a whole week rolls around is anybody’s guess, but either way, it’s already a big win for Capcom.
“Capcom today announced that worldwide sales of Monster Hunter Wilds, released on Friday February 28, 2025, surpassed eight million units in three days, which is the fastest a title has reached this milestone in the company’s history.”
Monster Hunter Wilds
What’s crazy is that it’s not like this is the best reviewed game in the world or anything. It’s sitting with an overall mixed rating on Steam, but that doesn’t seem to be hurting the sales too much. Plus, it’s a new game, give it time to settle, and updates to roll in, I’m sure it’ll improve.
It’s a big week for PC gaming though, with Steam hitting a peak of over 40 million players just a few days ago. Sitting at 28 million at the time of writing. Monster Hunter Wilds is the #1 top selling item on Steam right now, and the game has the #2 most played ranking of 757,708, sitting behind Counter-Strike 2 that is still a touch over 1m.
Given that Monster Hunter World sold 25 million copies, Rise sold 16 million copies, it seems the future is pretty certain for Wilds.
