More Than Half of Phantom Blade Zero Wishlists Come from Outside China
Phantom Blade Zero — the action RPG developed by Chinese studio S-GAME — has quickly surpassed one million additions to players’ wishlists. What makes this result particularly impressive is not only how fast it happened, but also the fact that more than 50% of those wishlists come from outside China.
What the CEO of Phantom Blade Zero Said
On the Chinese social platform Weibo, S-GAME CEO Liang “Soulframe” Qiwei stated that more and more players are adding Phantom Blade Zero to their wishlists on both Steam and PlayStation.
The game’s popularity in China comes as no surprise, but the fact that over half of the interest is coming from international markets is notable. According to Qiwei, the strongest interest outside China comes from Europe and North America, which are major gaming markets, but there is also significant attention from Brazil, Turkey, and the Middle East.
Liang also reiterated that the team finds it difficult to clearly define the game’s genre, but he does not want it to be labeled as a soulslike. He added that a new trailer was originally planned for the Chinese New Year, but the team ultimately decided not to release it. Instead, they chose to focus on polishing the game.
There was also concern that a new combat-focused trailer could confuse players and lead them to believe the game is a soulslike. From the developers’ point of view, Phantom Blade Zero is an action game designed to be accessible even to less experienced players. Going forward, marketing will focus more on the story and gameplay systems rather than combat alone.
Finally, it was confirmed that Phantom Blade Zero will be a PS5 console exclusive for 12 months, with a release date set for September 9, 2026 on PC (Steam and Epic Games Store) and PlayStation 5.
