Underneath the hood, the MSI GTX 1080 Ti Lightning Z packs a 14-phase VRM design on a 10-layer PCB. MSI utilizes 60A DrMOS packages not only to fit that much on the PCB but for performance as well. It has three phases for the memory and requires three 8-pin PCIe power connectors. Overclockers will be glad to hear that the PCB also has several V-check points for measuring GPU, memory and PLL voltages directly.
