Storage and USB Performance

CrystalDiskMark – Sequential Read

The laptop’s Samsung SM951 NVMe boot drive consistently manages to output stupendous read speeds which easily break the 2000MB/s mark. On another note, the mechanical hard drive performance was good, if a little unspectacular and the USB 3.0 rate hovered around 300MB/s.

CrystalDiskMark – Sequential Write

Here we can see the laptop’s NVMe drive performs brilliantly and makes a mockery of SATA-based solutions. Unfortunately, the mechanical hard drive reported fairly disappointing figures and I ran the benchmark multiple times to see if this was some kind of software abnormality. On a more positive note, the USB 3.0 rate surpassed the overwhelming majority of other systems.
