MSI Modern MD272QP Ultramarine Monitor Review

So many monitors that we review are gaming monitors, and while I have certainly been doing a few more business models in recent years, especially with the increase in the number of people working from home, they’re still few and far between. However, the MSI Modern MD272QP is something even rarer, as it’s not only designed for a boring day at work, as it’s also wanting to be versatile and stylish too. Just because it’s for work, doesn’t mean it has to be boring! So why is it called Ultramarine?

Ultramarine

Well, according to the official MSI blurb, “ultramarine blue is a colour reserved for the most important person or artwork in the 17th century. Colours are everywhere around us, and every moment of the day. The ultramarine blue brings you the unique idea, feeling, and emotion.” and that’s why they’ve made this monitor blue! Honestly, a breath of fresh air in a while of black, white and grey products.

It’s certainly well equipped though, with a 27″ IPS panel that runs at 2560 x 1440 resolution. The 75Hz refresh rate is a nice boost over the usual 60Hz too, but a clear image with great colours (95% sRGB) is the main goal here. It comes with an ergonomic stand, impressive connectivity thanks to a built-in KVM switch and USB Type-C, and a set of built-in speakers.

So it's no wonder I write about tech and test the latest hardware while I enjoy my hobbies!
