MSI Pro DP20Z Business & Productivity PC Review

A Closer Look

They say first impressions are important, and if that’s true, then the MSI Pro DP20Z is off to a flying start. This is a lovely looking thing! It’s very compact, and surprisingly not as heavy as I thought it would be either. I like the form factor too, it’s a bit chunky, and it just looks robust and sturdy… because it is!

The design also means that when you stand it on its side, if that’s what you prefer, it’s actually pretty hard to knock over. The wider body design suits it well, and while I love compact systems, the ones that tend to be ultra-slim also tend to be the hottest and loudest running.

Of course, at 2.6L, this is still pretty damn small, it’ll fit in a typical shoebox! However, it’s still really well equipped despite the compact size.

The front of the case offers up a USB 3.0 port, finished in black rather than blue to keep the aesthetics tight. There’s also a Type-C port right on the front, and audio jacks.

There’s quite a lot of ventilation too, ensuring everything can stay nice and cool.

Plus, some additional ventilation on the top/side, and I love the little design details like the rounded corners, it just breaks up the design and looks nice.

Around the back, a little more ventilation, so again, airflow should be excellent here. There’s a lot of connectivity options too, with four more USB ports and a LAN port on the left. There’s a VGA, HDMI and DisplayPort connection, so hooking up a display should be a breeze. The port next to the DisplayPort is the power socket. There is a COM port and WiFi headers on the lower edge.

The underside is fairly plain looking, but there are four screw holes to mount a VESA bracket. You can use this to wall mount it or mount it on the rear of a compatible display to hide it out of sight.

On the desk, it looks stunning sitting next to the new MSI monitor I reviewed recently!
