The MSI Vortex G65 6QF reported a very respectable score in PC Mark 8 although it fell behind some traditional desktops utilising a single graphics card solution. Despite this, you’re not going to notice any performance issues when using rudimentary software and the deficit is only visible in synthetic applications.

3DMark

When it comes to 3D capabilities, the system’s dual GPU was able to reach magnificent figures and easily attained the top spot. More specifically, the dual GTX 980 MXM cards excel once the resolution increased to 2560×1440.

Unigine Heaven

Rather puzzlingly, the system recorded a disappointing DirectX 9 score and was comprehensively beaten by a number of its closest rivals. I’m not entirely sure why this is the case especially when you consider it lingered behind a system sporting a single GTX 980. Of course, this is a faster desktop variant, but it doesn’t excuse the mediocre score. Honestly, it’s imperative to focus on the Extreme preset which provides a better indication of raw performance because most games nowadays either use DirectX 11 or DirectX 12. On a more positive note, the MSI Vortex G65 6QF remained within touching distance of first place when running a more demanding benchmark. This corresponds with what I expected and showcases the product’s ability to output great synthetic numbers during 3D stress tests.
