Multiplayer Mode Found for Assassin’s Creed Shadows Through Data Mining
Assassin’s Creed Shadows has turned out to be one of the best and most well-received games in the Assassin’s Creed series. It came at a time when Ubisoft was struggling, and it brought fans a much-needed hit. Many players have enjoyed its campaign and are now waiting for the downloadable content (DLC). However, it seems the game might offer more than just a solo campaign. Thanks to data mining, there are references to a possible multiplayer mode.
The Missing Multiplayer Mode of Assassin’s Creed Shadows
This discovery comes from a well-known modder, Sliderv2, who performed data mining on the game’s files. He found several mentions of a multiplayer mode, including references to a PvP (Player versus Player) mode.
According to previous reports, Assassin’s Creed: Shadows either had or was planning a multiplayer/co-op mode, codenamed LEAGUE. It was meant to launch in the coming months. However, there is no confirmed release date, and the latest news on the project came before one of the game’s delays. It’s unclear whether the multiplayer mode is still in development or has been canceled.
Ubisoft’s History with Multiplayer in Assassin’s Creed
This wouldn’t be the first time an Assassin’s Creed game featured multiplayer. For example, Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag included multiplayer modes. Ubisoft is also working on a 100% multiplayer-focused game in the Assassin’s Creed series called Assassin’s Creed Invictus. However, there’s little information available about this project at the moment.
It’s important to remember that a multiplayer mode is not expected in the short term. Ubisoft recently announced the post-launch content roadmap for Assassin’s Creed Shadows, which will include difficulty adjustments, New Game+, story updates, and other extras. But for now, no multiplayer is planned.
