Mystery Radeon RX 6600 XT Graphics Card Appears

With the AMD Radeon RX 6600 XT set to release tomorrow, there is clearly a lot of excitement surrounding what could well represent the next 1080p gaming graphics card King (or Queen if you prefer). – Following a report via Chiphell, however, something very curious has just been spotted. While it’s well known that the 6600 XT will be an AIB-only GPU (in other words, AMD are not making their own reference versions) a design from a seemingly completely unknown manufacturer has just made an appearance!

Mystery Radeon RX 6600 XT

While no details about the graphics card’s performance have been leaked, in terms of aesthetics and branding, this certainly appears to be something entirely new. Digging further, the GPU comes from Vastarmor, a manufacturer that, at least to my knowledge and experience, has never once appeared before.

Now, given that this GPU is expected to be a China-only exclusive release, it’s certainly not uncommon for there to be models released in that region that never make it to the West. In terms of outright manufacturers, however, this is more than a little unusual.

One theory currently being put forward is that this Vastarmor has been manufactured by XFX (a manufacturer we certainly have heard of!), but in official terms, their apparent involvement begins and ends there. In other words, it’s entirely possible, and this would be very unusual in the remits of graphics cards, that these Vastarmor 6600 XT’s are, and I can think of no better words for it, some kind of subcontracted project.

What Do We Think?

As noted above, it’s entirely understood that these Vastarmor 6600 XT graphics cards will remain entirely exclusive to the Chinese market. With an apparently new name in the world of graphics cards, however, who knows, perhaps in the next few years, we’ll actually start seeing them come to our shores. Albeit, people (at the moment) are not crying out for more GPU brands, they’re crying out for more (and affordable) graphics cards and this sadly doesn’t appear to be the long-awaited solution to that problem.

What do you think? – Let us know in the comments!
