It looks like a privacy mode will soon be heading to NetFlix, much like the privacy mode on our browsers which is perfect for hiding the things you don’t want in your search history. I’m not naming names, but you all know the kind of things I mean.
Of course illicit content isn’t exactly a focus for NetFlix, but for those who want to cover up their watching habbits it can be a handy tool. If you don’t want your wife finding out you’ve spent all night watching a fashion documentary, or some god awful film that you don’t want to admit loving.
This means that NetFlix will not keep a track of what you watched, but it also want use the information to provide recommendations for you in the future. This is also good for letting family use NetFlix as it means their preferences for a certain show won’t ruin your recommendations.
The feature is only being tested on a few small regions at the moment, but if successful (we suspect it will be), the feature should be rolled out to all users in the coming weeks and months.
