AORUS X9 Laptop 1

The all-new AORUS X9 laptop shows that a portable unit doesn’t have to be inferior to a stationary. In fact, this new beast will kick a lot of systems which we all have around in our homes. It packs the best of hardware in a beautiful and aggressive design which I quite like.

AORUS X9 Internal Hardware

There are a lot of goodies inside this new laptop. To start with, there is an overclockable Intel Core i7-7820HK processor which runs at 2.9 to 3.9GHz. Further, you’ll find two NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1070 graphics cards in SLI for a total of 16GB GDDR5 memory. There are four DDR4 memory slots for up to 64GB DDR4 RAM, after all, you shouldn’t have more graphics memory than normal. That’s just weird.

The storage system isn’t without either. The system comes with a tri-storage system which offers up to dual 512GB M.2 PCIe SSDs and a 2TB 2.5-inch mechanical HDD.

Display and Connection Options

Display wise, you have two options. You can either get it with a 17.3” UHD 3840×2160 IPS anti-glare display with 100% Adobe RGB, or a 17.3″ QHD 2560×1440 120Hz 5ms WVA anti-glare display. Which you pick depends on your usage scenario.

Externally, the AORUS X9 comes with all the latest connectivity options, including Thunderbolt 3. With it, you get impressive expansion options as the 40Gbps connection can daisy-chain devices from external graphics cards to high-performance storage setups.

The AORUS X9 Keyboard

A weak point in many laptops is the keyboard. Whether you game or write a lot, you’ll wear the membrane keyboards down. Not so with the AORUS X9 as it comes with a mechanical keyboard instead of a membrane keyboard.  Fitted with brown Cherry mechanical switches, the X9 will stand up to the most demanding tasks. The full keyboard is also backlit with a million colours. There is a lot more RGB going on in this system than just the keyboard as you can see in the included photos.

Power Requires Cooling

A lot of raw power requires a lot of cooling which is a tricky situation for notebook builders. It has to be small, silent, light-weight, and offer proper cooling abilities at the same time. That’s not an easy task. The AORUS X9 has larger than usual cooling vents throughout the entire chassis, it packs four large fans, and eight heat-pipes to create the [world’s first] 17.3-inch laptop with quad cooling fans.

Dimensions and Weight

We know from the sections above that this is a 17.3-inch laptop, but that’s a wage figure as is. The exact measurements are 428mm wide, 314mm deep, and 23.5-30.5mm high. The weight comes in at 3.59kg with 8GB memory in two modules, 256GB PCIe SSD and no HDD.

Pricing and Availability

Gigabyte didn’t reveal a price nor availability date for the AORUS X9 at this time.
