New Red Dead Redemption 2 Mod Improves Graphics Without a Major Performance Hit
A new mod created by a modder known as “rzzzblend” introduces visual improvements to Red Dead Redemption 2 while having only a very small impact on performance. This makes it a strong recommendation for players who want better image quality without putting heavy strain on their PC.
The mod is called Natural Light Reworked, and it focuses on improving the game’s lighting to make it look more natural and realistic. It adjusts color handling and lighting behavior to create a cleaner, more striking atmosphere.
Lighting Improvements With Minimal Performance Impact
After installing the mod, global lighting intensity is increased, which changes how light is perceived across the game world. Lamps now emit a warmer orange glow, nights are darker and more immersive, and the artificial glow that normally appears around the player and NPCs has been removed.
The mod is available for free via NexusMods (thanks DSOGaming). The author has shared several comparison images showing the results in many different areas of the game, and the lighting improvements are clearly noticeable. The official mod page also lists the required files and dependencies needed for proper installation.
If you plan to use this mod, the author recommends DLSS 4.5 or newer. Earlier versions of DLSS, as well as equivalent technologies, may cause visual artifacts or graphical glitches in certain areas — especially in darker scenes and during nighttime across the map.
Overall, Natural Light Reworked offers a simple yet effective way to enhance the visual experience of Red Dead Redemption 2 without sacrificing smooth performance.
