New Rust Primitive Update Puts a New Spin on The Survival Classic

As someone who has put a not-inconsiderable amount of hours into Rust, I’ve been extremely hyped and have had a huge amount of anticipation for the new Rust primitive update that strips away all the late-game technology and puts a greater focus on the early-game medieval part. This new game mode might be perfect for newer players, as the early game on Rust is notorious for players spending many hours “primlocked” (unable to advance past primitive weapons).
Rust Primitive
Rust Primitive will come in the form of a new game mode, so players will have the choice of playing regular Rust or Primitive. When playing in Primitive, the only weapons you will be able to use are melee weapons, the bow, compound bow, crossbow, mini crossbow, speargun, Eoka pistols, beancan grenades, Molotov cocktails, and the flashlight attachment.
Shields will function as a backpack item that is automatically used when you have a single-handed melee weapon equipped. The classic Rust facemask and metal chest plate have been removed, and a new skins pack has been released, giving the classic road sign armour a new medieval spin.
In place of Rust’s rockets and C4, there will now be siege towers, battering rams, and catapults. To compensate for the lower power level of the siege equipment, the maximum level for all structures will be stone.

Now that the update is out, the player count has soared to 211,219, nearly reaching its all-time peak of 259,646, which it only hit a month ago after nearly 12 years. This is also due to the game currently enjoying a 50% sale, so I’d highly recommend grabbing the game quickly before the sale ends.
